Reading Retelling
The past two weeks we have spent a lot of time during reading and writing working on telling stories that share the who, what, and when of stories. The children have learned about putting stories in order (sequence), retelling with character voice and story language (repeating phrases or words) and sound effects. They have gotten so excited about retelling stories that yesterday during learning centers a group of six students decided to create their own puppets to retell the stories of the three little pigs, the three billy goats gruff, and Goldilocks and the three bears! I love to see them transferring their excitement about books and story telling to all parts of their day.

Such a SIGHT!
Today we took at look our sense of sight. We read the book "The Looking Book" and had the chance to draw our eye and use magnifying glasses and lookers to explore our sense of sight outside. We did an observation walk and found some wonderful fall marvels!
We also welcomed Evie's grandmas as our mystery reader. She read us about Michigan called "M is for Mittens". The children loved learning about Michigan's special history and beautiful landmarks!

Awesome Apple Day!
We couldn't have welcomed the first day of fall with any more warmth and excitement than what surrounded our apple day festivities. The children loved learning about their five senses through our apple explorations and did a beautiful job reading their apple books and writing about their favorite fall apple snacks. A huge thank you goes out to our wonderful apple helpers.. Ms.C, Ms. DP, Ms. B, and Big and little Ms. C, thank you so much for cutting apples and assisting with our apple day projects! I appreciate your gift of time and effort so very much! Here are some of the high lights from our day today! Enjoy and happy start to fall!
