Barretts Blast

Be on the look out for a note coming home about the t-shirt design contest for our school picnic (Barretts' Blast) in the spring.  The children have until Feb. 26th to design and submit a class (for all of kindergarten) design to be used in for the picnic shirts.  Designing is completely optional but we have some amazing artists in our class and it would be fun to see a few options entered from our artistic group!
Get creative and have fun!

Valentine's update

Just a reminder to be working on those valentine's at home this weekend.  We will be exchanging valentine cards before our party (Babaloo) on February 13th.  We will have a normal (be it still filled with LOVE) day on Friday to make up for our snow day.  A big thank you to Etta's mom for helping with our V-Day decorations and to Ava's mom for coordinating our last school party for the year!

Ben's tradition

Thank you to Ben's mom for sharing the story of how they celebrate each individual in their home with the S plate.  It was fun to hear about how they acknowledge the excitement happening in each of their family members lives!  What a wonderful way to celebrate each other!

SLC updates

Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is the last day of the student leadership council's winter gear drive, so please send any items with your child tomorrow that you are hoping to donate.
Also, Thursday is dress like a friend (twin day).  Our class will be wearing jeans and a black top (this is just so that everyone has the option to dress like a twin, your child certainly does not have to dress this way if they have plans with another student to dress similarly).
Last thing...send those box tops!!!
Thanks so much!

Double Trouble Mystery Reader(s)

Today we got a  double dose of fun with Ethan's grandparents.  We got to hear the story of "The Boy Who Cried Ninja" (a version of the boy who cried wolf) and "The Monster Who Lost His Mean".  Thank you to Ethan and his family for making our snack extra special with some wonderful books and fabulous readers!

Non-Fiction

We began a new reading unit today on Non-Fiction books.  The children were introduced to the books during whole group reading time and we explored a book together noticing how these types of books have photographs, bubbles with information, and seem to be all about one subject.  The children love that these "teaching books" have lots of different topics and are excited to start learning more.

Ready, set, COLLECT!!!

The competition is on for box top collection in February, get excited!!! We sure are...

Please save your box tops and send them in with your child to help us earn our place as top collecting class.  Every box top you send also raises money for our fabulous school, so thank you not only from the Heroes for your contribution but from all the Bobcats!
