Full Friday!

Hello families!
A few quick reminders about next Friday (2/22). 

We will be honoring Abilities Awareness Day with an assembly at 3:15. 

We will also be participating in Hats On For Kids With Cancer.  Students may wear a hat if they donate a dollar to SLC.

Friday will also be a pretzel sale to raise money for our sensory tools.  Children must pre-pay on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday so that I can place the order on Thursday with the office.  Pretzels are $1.

Fabulous Fun with "Funny Matt"

We had two special visitors today as mystery guests.  Finn's daddy and special family friend, "Funny Matt", came to read with us during snack.  The children enjoyed his energetic reading of "I'm Bad" and "Valentine's Kisses".  We are so fortunate to have such fantastic friends to read to us!

More Math

We are transitioning our focus in math back to number ID and fluency.  The children will be looking at the numbers 10-20 this week and learning that our "teen numbers" all contain a group of ten and individual "ones".  We began our counting books today and used a video to help us understand how numbers are constructed.  Check it out at the link below!

Ava's adventure!

We were SO excited to welcome our friend Ava back from her travels!  She told us all about her adventures visiting Brazil and shared a sweet treat with us.  We were reminded how children from around the world all eat food, specifically sweet treats, but they have their own take on that food.  Today we got to try "oreos" from Brazil.  Some loved them and others weren't so sure, but I was proud of all of my heroes for giving them a try.  Ava also took the chance to teach us some Portuguese words like "Good morning, good day, hello" (bone-gee-ah) and "what?" (geh) and " thank you" (oh-bre-gah-dah).  How fun to get a cultural experience from one of our very own world travelers!
