Today we had the chance to hear from a real author, illustrator, and children's songwriter. The children loved hearing how he gathers story ideas, how he manipulates his sketches to change the characters and action in the stories, and how he uses fun to make his readers giggle at his story ideas.
The children will be learning more about what makes books readable/unreadable in this next unit. The will be making great connections as they build their own stories. We will be talking specifically about how both pictures and words tell a story and how the easiest stories to understand are those that have a clear beginning/middle/end.
